Kim Delaney was an American actress. The actress is best known for her character, Detective Diane Russell, in the ABC show NYPD Blue. For this she won an Emmy Award. Her other credits include her role on the drama show All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a household worker. Her childhood was spent within a household that included four brothers. The idea of becoming a court reporter during the early years of her life, however she began modelling in high school and eventually gaining commercials after moving from New York. The role she was given was that of a young innocent in 1981's soap-opera All My Children. Delaney is a well-known actress who has been featured in a variety of television dramas, and TV films. As with her professional career however, her private life has not been a success or happy one. The skilled actor struggled with alcoholism and she has experienced two marriages that failed. She lost custody of her son in 2005.
